Invest more, not less

El-Sayed wants to invest more in federal science and university research rather than gut it, and ensure the taxpayers who fund it share in the returns.

They're gutting so much of the cancer research and research on chronic disease and research on autism that is one of the best things our government does… And the NIH is part of that.

WHAT HE HAS SAID

• Calls research and development among America’s most important assets and wants to invest in the research, development, and growth of the technologies of the future.
• Would push to invest more, and faster, in research agencies like the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health instead of gutting them.
• Believes the taxpayers who fund federal research should earn back the returns on their investment.
