El-Sayed supports protecting LGBTQ+ people from discrimination and preserving access to gender-affirming care as a patient–doctor decision.

I will never back down when somebody’s rights are at risk.

WHAT HE HAS SAID

• Believes everyone has the right to make personal healthcare decisions, including gender-affirming care, with a patient (and parents if a minor) and their doctor, no one else.
• Would fight to keep the medications used in this care legal, and to protect providers from lawsuits and funding cuts aimed at shutting that care down.
• Affirms constitutional protections regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and freedom of self-expression.
