Family farms

Abdul wants family farms to keep more of what they earn, with fairer markets, simpler farm loans, and equipment they can repair.

We don’t want to see agriculture be corporatized.

WHAT HE HAS SAID

• Proposes capping individual subsidy payments at $250,000 per year and redirecting dollars toward specialty crops, diversified agriculture, and regenerative farming.
• Supports targeted, negotiated trade protections for Michigan specialty crops rather than blanket tariffs that raise farmers’ costs and invite retaliation.
• Backs reforming the H-2A guest-worker program through the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, with pathways to legal status for immigrant farmworkers.
• Champions a federal right-to-repair law for farm equipment.
• Would work to break up agricultural monopolies and investigate meatpackers that squeeze farmers and raise food prices.
• Supports simpler USDA applications and faster farm-loan decisions.
