WHAT HE HAS SAID

• Supports universal childcare, universal pre-K, and comprehensive public K–12 education tailored to kids’ unique needs, grounded in a right to literacy.
• Supports massive investment in school infrastructure, the buildings and community spaces where children spend most of their days.
• Supports raising the minimum teacher salary to at least $60,000 a year and hiring more nurses, psychologists, social workers, and counselors.
• Would push to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and to keep public money in public schools rather than vouchers.
• Proposes tying any percentage increase in national education funding to any equivalent increase in the national defense budget.
• Wants to move past funding models that tie school funding to property taxes, which deprive working-class communities of sufficient resources.
