Climate & agriculture

El-Sayed supports a transition to renewable energy built around union jobs and stronger protection for communities facing pollution and extreme weather.

When you talk about agriculture, you’re also talking about climate change and immigration and tariffs.

WHAT HE HAS SAID

  • Supports a pathway to 100% renewable energy with massive investment in solar, wind, battery storage, a modernized smart grid, and energy-efficiency upgrades built on good union jobs.
  • Would work to write the EPA's authority over greenhouse gases into law, so no future president can sign it away.
  • Would push to strengthen air-quality rules to count everything a neighborhood breathes at once, and give communities a real say before fossil-fuel projects are approved nearby.
  • Supports making environmental justice an explicit mandate of every federal agency with authority over air and water.
  • Would work to hold corporate polluters fully accountable for contaminating Michigan’s land, air, and water, and to empower federal agencies to stop them before harm is done.
  • Supports shutting down Line 5 to protect the Great Lakes while making the line safer in the meantime without destroying sensitive environmental or tribal sites.
